Senior QA Lead

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior QA Lead to take ownership of quality across a major product, covering test strategy, automation, manual testing and the development of AI-driven testing approaches.

This is a hands-on role with responsibility for building robust test frameworks, improving automation coverage and embedding quality throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the overall QA strategy, including manual and automated testing.

• Act as a key product user, identifying issues and opportunities to improve the user experience.

• Build and evolve the automated testing framework using TypeScript and Playwright.

• Develop comprehensive UI and API test coverage.

• Design and maintain reliable, scalable E2E test journeys.

• Implement API contract and schema validation to identify backend changes and inconsistencies.

• Own quality-related CI/CD workflows, including GitHub Actions.

• Review automation code and establish strong testing standards.

• Work closely with frontend and backend engineers to identify defects and improve application testability.

• Develop approaches for testing AI agents and AI-driven functionality.

• Use AI tools to improve test creation, test data generation and code analysis.

• Mentor engineers and raise the overall QA standard across the team.

Essential Experience

• 5+ years' experience in test automation, including building automation frameworks.

• Strong TypeScript/JavaScript development skills.

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright or a similar modern automation framework.

• Proven experience with API automation, REST, HTTP and OpenAPI/Swagger.

• Experience with API schema/contract validation.

• Strong understanding of automated test design, including negative, boundary and lifecycle scenarios.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, ideally GitHub Actions.

• Ability to build reusable, maintainable automation rather than simply writing individual test scripts.

Desirable

• Allure TestOps or similar test reporting platforms.

• Experience with test-data factories and reusable fixtures.

• Experience testing MFA/2FA, email or CAPTCHA-driven workflows.

• Experience with RBAC or multi-tenant platforms.

• Security awareness or phishing simulation domain experience.

• Performance or contract testing experience.

• Experience using AI-assisted development and testing tools.
