Senior Data Scientist 

 

A technology consultancy is growing its AI practice in Italy and needs a hands-on Senior Data Scientist. You'll run client projects from start to finish, lead a small team, and keep coding yourself.

 

The role

You'll be the technical lead on AI and GenAI projects for clients across a range of sectors. You'll scope the work, deliver it, and explain it to clients, and you'll help the team grow. We're open to different backgrounds. What matters is strong fundamentals and the ability to switch between technical work and client conversations.

 

What you'll do

- Lead AI, machine learning and GenAI projects from scoping through to delivery

- Manage and mentor a team of up to 4 Data Scientists

- Design, build and review models, and stay hands-on with code

- Support pre-sales by shaping solutions and estimating effort and cost

- Act as the trusted technical voice in client conversations

 

What you'll bring

- Solid foundations in mathematics, statistics and programming (Python or similar)

- Broad, current knowledge of AI and ML, including GenAI

- Experience leading projects, mentoring others or guiding technical decisions

- Clear, structured thinking, and confidence explaining it to non-technical people

 

Nice to have

- A PhD, or a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics or another quantitative subject

- Experience in Energy or Industrial sectors

- A background in consulting or client-facing delivery
